Once privately owned, these facilities are now being leased by the Town of Richmond Hill. Sitting at the top of a hill, the Observatory allows clear view to visitors of the City of Toronto to the south.

To this day, older townhomes and detached homes sit on Constellation Crescent, Nightstar Drive and Moonlight Lane, with easy walking distance to Yonge Street and public transit. On the north side of the community lays newer complex of detached homes. Their styles and features are very attractive to many home buyers, and uniquely, it is isolated from the rest Richmond Hill by the Observatory Lands to the south.

The major demographics in this community are the Chinese. In the area, a large Chinese community exists, making it a strong and diverse community in Richmond Hill.
